In June, 2019, the Board of the Jon Sims Endowment Fund for the Performing Arts adopted the new logo you will see on this web site. The logo was designed by acclaimed graphic designer Wesley Kashiwagi of San Jose, California.

A number of designs were developed and reviewed before the current one was adopted. It was chosen as it better reflects the mission and the key attributes of the JSEF:

  • Financial stability
  • Long-term growth
  • The 30 year (and counting) history of the organization

JSEF still very much honors the memory of Jon Reed Sims, the founder of the LGBT+ performing arts movement. Every such organization can trace it roots to what Jon Sims started in San Francisco in 1978.

The first image is from his 1984 memorial service program.

The stylized illustration (second image) of Jon Sims playing his french horn appeared in the previous JSEF brochure.

And, it was an illustration of Jon’s French Horn that was featured in the original JSEF logo (third image).
